Nick Poole is managing director of FAR Australia, an applied research and extension organization serving the cropping industry in Australia. The organization is a subsidiary organization of FAR in New Zealand, which is the grower levy organization for cropping farmers. He has more than 30 years of experience as a research agronomist, having been involved in field applied research in the Australia, New Zealand and the U.K. He is based in Geelong, Victoria.
His specific interests are farming systems research, disease and canopy management, crop establishment and challenging the current boundaries of wheat productivity worldwide. Nick is involved with research projects in many states of Australia and New Zealand, working on stubble management, new fungicide chemistry, and early sown wheat and irrigated cereal crops. He is also involved in the FAR New Zealand 20 by 2020 project, a research program, which aims to grow a 20 t/ha crop by the year 2020.
Nick has been a recipient of the GRDC Seed of Light award for his work in research and extension.
